Thank you so much for stopping by sharonyang.com. A little bit about me. I currently live in Washington, D.C. and am a member of the Politics and Government Outreach team at Facebook where I specialize in helping international organizations, government officials and institutions, elected officials, embassies, and non-profits optimize their presence on our platforms. Before joining Facebook in 2016, I served as the Chief of Protocol for the U.S.A. Pavilion at the World's Fair hosted in Milan, Italy, also known as Expo Milano 2015. The World’s Fair or Expo is an international diplomatic event that is hosted every five years in a rotating host country. In my role as the Chief of Protocol I had the pleasure of welcoming and organizing formal visits to our pavilion by U.S. delegations, from Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Former Secretary of State John Kerry, to Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Diane von Furstenberg, and Martha Stewart, as well as delegations from our fellow Expo country participants like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Israel) and Crown Prince of Dubai Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (Fazza) (UAE).

Prior to venturing to Italy, I was with The Aspen Institute's development team and before joining Aspen, I spent four years as Director of Gen44, the national young professionals fundraising program of President Obama’s Re-election Campaign (Obama for America), Democratic National Committee (DNC), and the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC). Gen44 was created to cultivate and empower the next generation of fundraisers and leaders in the Democratic Party and re-election campaign. Prior to working at the DNC and 2012 presidential campaign, I was a National Candidate Finance Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and also served on Secretary Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign as a member of the fundraising team.

I began my career in Washington, D.C. working at MSHC Partners, a democratic consulting agency, followed by Grunwald Communications, a political and media consulting firm founded by renowned communications operative Mandy Grunwald.

I am a first-generation Taiwan-American, proud product of San Diego, California, a former competitive figure skater, and graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Communications and Fine Arts.

My love of travel began at a young age with road trips in a Westfalia VW van and treks to skating competitions. Since then, I've been fortunate enough to continue the trend. Those who have met me also know I am never far away from a camera, whether it's my Sony a6500 or my iPhone. I express myself best through images and my hope is that this site provides a small window into my perspective.  Thank you for visiting and I look forward to sharing my adventures.
